Indictment Monday, Tax Scam Wednesday

I will admit to a tiny frisson of glee on Friday when I learned that the first charges in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of Trump’s collusion with Russia were approved by a grand jury. This is what it takes to build a case against the Trump administration that could get even Republicans on board. Just as important, it’s the first step toward holding Trump accountable for election tampering—and possibly a lot more.

Plus, it’s really pissing him off.

But it’s important to maintain our focus on the Trump Tax Scam, which will land in Congress on Wednesday. As Topher Spiro at the Center for American Progress says, it’s this tax bill that could be Trump’s Waterloo. Republicans are trying to ram this through the same way they did with TrumpCare: a rushed, hushed up process, with no public hearing. They want to use reconciliation to pass the bill with only 51 votes (just like they tried with health care). They need this win badly. And we need to take it away from them.

As a reminder, this budget is a massive tax break for the wealthy, while raising taxes on the middle class and slashing Medicare and Medicaid.

We need Democratic MoCs to stand up and do whatever they can to slow down this bill so we have time to fight it—including, for Senators, withholding their consent. All three of our MoCs have spoken out against the Trump budget. Now we must make sure they do everything in their power to slow down and expose the Trump Tax Scam.

Call Senators Feinstein and Harris and demand that they withold consent. (script)
