CNBC reports that officials will keep processing renewals under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program… for now. But the future for DREAMers is far from secure.
And DREAMers aren’t the only ones: Haitian and Salvadoran holders of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) face the end of that program in 2019. Almost no waivers are grantedunder Trump’s latest Muslim ban. And the Supreme Court threw out detained immigrant’s right to bond hearings.
The good news is that you CAN make a difference. Senator Feinstein’s office is now receiving only 30 calls per day supporting immigrants, down significantly from February.
Our elected officials believe the conversation has moved on. Stand Up San Francisco members alone could double or triple the number of calls on this topic. We can change their minds.
ONE THING YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW
Call your MOCs today, tomorrow and Friday. Sample script:
I’m your constituent from San Francisco, California. I stand in solidarity with my immigrant neighbors. I support DACA and TPS and oppose all attempts to curtail or terminate these programs. Please push for humane, comprehensive immigration reform that includes a pathway to citizenship for all 11 million people in our country without documentation.
