Family separation isn’t over. Hundreds of parents who were separated from their children at the border have been deported. In a ghastly parody of justice, toddlers have had to appear for themselves in immigration court.
The court-imposed deadline for reunifying children under five with their families was July 10. As of today, 45 little kids remain in prison. The deadline for the rest of these families is tomorrow. Safe to say it won’t be met either.
The Helsinki summit was a horror show and Trump’s rhetoric is increasingly apocalyptic, but despite the punishing news cycle, we cannot forget these children.
ONE THING YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW
STAND UP SF TAKES BACK CONGRESS
Our power can flip the House (and maybe the Senate) by electing progressive leaders who represent our values, but only if every one of us does our part. If you’ve been phone- and text-banking and canvassing already, keep up the good work. If you haven’t begun, it’s time to start.
Sign up for Stand Up SF’s very first phone bank on August 5th. Join our members and Democracy Action to flip a Senate seat, or sign up to phone bank from home with Indivisible’s calling tools. They’ll give you all the training you need.
