As many as 85,000 children may have starved to death in Yemen, according to a new study of UN data. Another 14 million people are at risk. The conflict is essentially a proxy war between Iran on the one side and Saudi Arabia and the Emirates, supported by the USA, on the other.
As you know, the President maintains this support for Saudi Arabia despite the vicious murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the hands of Saudi government operatives. Nothing about this situation is acceptable.
ONE THING YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW
This week the Senate is debating S.J.Res 54, “A joint resolution to direct the removal of United States Armed Forces from hostilities in the Republic of Yemen that have not been authorized by Congress.” As you read this, the resolution ought to have passed the Senate. Call Senators Feinstein and Harris and thank them for their votes.
For extra credit: ask both Senators to lend their support to the Saudi Arabia Accountability and Yemen Act of 2018, bipartisan legislation to ensure Congressional oversight of US policy in Yemen and to address this ongoing humanitarian disaster.
Meeting with Sen. Feinstein Staff
Thursday, December 13
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
One Post Street, Suite 2450
Thank you for all that you do,
